Capital Campaign Named

The name for our capital campaign is “Christ our Firm Foundation,” based on a passage from St. Paul’s letter to the Christians in Ephesus (Ephesians 2.19-22). In the passage, Paul says, “So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are citizens with the saints and also members of the household of God, built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone. In him the whole structure is joined together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord; in whom you also are built together spiritually into a dwelling place for God” (NRSV).

Christ is the foundation of Good Shepherd, as he always has been, and will continue to be. As we embark on this adventure to restore the physical foundation of the nave, let us also resolve to restore Christ as the foundation of our hearts. He alone is worthy of our devotion and worship. It is he whom we serve when we serve one another. Always remember that, although we sometimes may not feel it, we are part of one body, the Mystical Body of Christ, founded upon our Lord Jesus Christ.
