Training Overview

Why we exist

The Lay Catechist Training School exists to equip lay catechists for Christian formation within the parish and diocese. Lay catechists serve the local priests by participating in the formation of Christians into a fuller expression of the catholic faith and tradition. Training includes the following broad categories:

Holy Scripture (contents and background)
The Book of Common Prayer
The Hymnal
Church History
Church Doctrine (Creeds and the Catechism)
Pedagogy (methods of catechesis)
Spiritual Formation
Guidance for continued education
